It is only fair that I share my health journey with you, before you choose to dive in and share yours with me. I remember days of extreme stomach pain beginning at the age of four years old. No one was able to pinpoint the cause, and as time went on I had to accept these pains as normal. Nausea and bloating were common themes after consuming any type of food, and again – I went on accepting this as the norm. My senior year of high school is when my health took a turn for the worst. I had chronic GI issues, increased migraines, rapid weight loss, disordered eating patterns, extreme fatigue, and even episodes of brain fog. Every doctor visit resulted in a different piece of advice, – exercise more, now stop exercising, cut out dairy, eat more fiber, eat fattening foods to put the weight back on, etc. One common theme within this advice was food. The culprit in my case – Gluten.
After years of questioning my health and taking an abundance of medications to treat my symptoms, I learned that what I was putting into my body was the main problem. This was when I decided I wanted to become a dietitian. As humans, we have to eat to survive, but many of us forget that what we consume also plays a pivotal role in our health down the road. I am not here to put you on a diet or tell you to stop eating your favorite foods. I am here to advocate for your happiness and health. Nutrition is ever-changing as well as ever-confusing. I will help you to understand the role that nutrition has on your body and help you to separate out the facts from the myths. We are all different, so it only makes sense that we each have a personalized nutrition plan that best suits our unique needs. I look forward to this journey with you!
